Ballynacarrigy

Ballynacarrigy

Ballynacarrigy (also known as Ballynacargy) is a picturesque village, deep in the rural countryside of County Longford. Step off the Royal Canal Greenway and cross a historic stone bridge to admire Ballynacargy Harbour, which has a significant mooring capacity and a landscaped recreational area. Here, you’ll find picnic tables, bike parking and a serviced public toilet with showers, making it perfect for a lunch stop amidst the peaceful scenery of the region. Take a stroll through the tiny village, which is home to just over 200 residents, or venture northeast towards Tristernagh Demesne to view the ruins of Templecross, a medieval church, before resuming your Royal Canal Greenway journey.
