Kilrea

Kilrea

Discover the historic town of Kilrea by the River Bann. Close to Portna Lock and with its own lake with an outdoor adventure and water park, Kilrea offers beautiful walks, family friendly activities and even a summer festival.

A favourite stop off for those traversing the Lower Bann Cycleway, Kilrea is famous for its rolling green hills and scenic walks and cycling trails. Try the Fishing Lodge Walk, a short loop around the old fishing lodge that offers keen-eyed walkers the chance to spot otters. There is also a small jetty here for paddlers. Anglers will enjoy fishing the well-stocked waters of the Bann, while families or groups of friends can visit The Lake Kilrea, a local activity provider offering a floating water park and various adventure activities.

Putt a few rounds at The Manor House and Golf Club, browse Edenbane Art Gallery Kilrea, enjoy a drink at The Talk of the Town pub or take the family to the local playground. Just outside of the village, you'll see Moneygran House B&B, for those wishing to stop over. In the summer, the Fairy Thorn Festival brings live music, face painting, bouncy castles, fairground games and sports competitions to the village.
