Visit Naas, the largest town in County Kildare. With the Grand Canal threading through the town and plenty of activities and culture on offer, Naas is popular with walkers, anglers and boaters alike.
Moor up at Naas Harbour, a scenic hidden gem near the centre of town which is also perfect for fishing. A short stroll to the east, you’ll find the Naas Old Railway Line walk, an easy walk past the lakelands where you’ll see swans, ducks and herons. Or, follow the Naas Historic Trail from the harbour, which takes you past several playgrounds to Jigginstow Castle, a 17th-century ruined house and monument that was once one of the largest buildings in Ireland.
With ample restaurants, bars, eateries and accommodation, Naas is the perfect place to spend a few nights relaxing before venturing further down the canal.
