General information
Water Levels
The water levels of Lough Neagh and the flow of the Lower Bann are regulated by sluices located at Toomebridge, Portna, and the Cutts. During periods of heavy rainfall, the inflow of water may exceed the capacity of these sluices, leading to raised water levels in the lough. The river may remain in spate until the level of Lough Neagh recedes. Navigating to the locks, particularly at the Cutts, as well as at Portna, Movanagher, and Carnroe, can pose risks during spate due to strong currents and eddies near bridges. Boaters are advised to exercise caution.
