Waterways Ireland advises Masters of vessels navigating on the Shannon Navigation, Lough Ree, to exercise caution if entering the Lecarrow Canal, specifically:
- Low water levels are present in the vicinity of the pump-out facility. This area should be avoided. The remainder of the harbour has sufficient water depth to berth.
- Boaters are advised to consider using the pump-out facilities at Portrunny or Ballyleague.
- Where vessels enter the Lecarrow Canal, Masters are advised to proceed slowly and remain in the centre of the navigable channel, due to aquatic weed growth along sections of the canal.
- Marine Notice No. 90 of 2026, Weed Growth & Low Water Cautionary Warning, remains extant and should be read in conjunction with this Notice.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks waterway users for their cooperation.
