Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that, as part of routine navigation maintenance, silt removal works will be undertaken south of Victoria Lock from Monday 24 August to Friday 18 September 2026.
During this period:
- The navigation channel will be reduced in width to facilitate the safe execution of the works, yet will remain open to all vessels.
- Masters of vessels navigating through the works area are requested to proceed with caution, reduce speed and follow any instructions or temporary navigation signage in place.
- The fixed jetty downstream of Victoria Lock will be closed for the duration of the works and must not be used.
Masters of vessels are reminded that the Weed Growth & Low Water Cautionary Warning remains in place across all navigations, as detailed in Marine Notice No. 90 of 2026.
