Rathangan

Discover the vibrant town of Rathangan in west County Kildare. Right by the River Slate and the Grand Canal, and adjacent to the Bog of Allen, Rathangan is rich in nature and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Enjoy sprawling walks from Rathangan to Robertstown or Monasterevin along the beautiful Barrow Way, or explore a series of shorter, self-guided walks in and around town. Discover local landmarks such as the historic Spencer’s Bridge, which is a popular fishing spot, and The Dean’s House, which was once home to Dean Preston, but now lies in ruins.

Walk or run the pleasant towpaths of the Barrow Way, which is just moments from the town centre. Explore the region’s parks and nature reserves, including Killinthomas Wood or Tannery Park, which is close to the town centre and has a children’s playground. Or enjoy Rathangan’s fantastic cafes and eateries, which include the popular Darchini Restaurant, Ma’s Kitchen cafe and several bustling bars and pubs. Rathangan has something for everyone to enjoy.
