Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels that Lock 25 at Cappincur on the Grand Canal, which has been closed since 26 November, will remain closed until 19 December 2025.
This extension is required to complete emergency repair works to replace the breast gate and undertake essential repairs to the land tunnels. To facilitate these works, the water level between Lock 24 and Lock 25 will remain lowered for the duration of the repairs.
Affected boaters are requested to contact their local Water Patroller for further information or assistance. Further updates will be issued as additional information becomes available.
