Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and users of the Grand Canal of the following updates:
1. Lock 18 will be fully operational from Friday, 3 April 2026, following successful engineering works to the land tunnels.
- Water levels on the 17th and 18th levels have been restored to normal navigation levels.
- Masters of vessels required to move during the closure are welcome to return to this section from Friday, 3 April 2026.
2. 18th Level - Robertstown Culvert - Ongoing Works. Repairs to the Robertstown Culvert are nearing completion. It is expected that this section will re-open to navigation on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
Waterways Ireland regrets the inconvenience caused by these essential works and thanks its customers for their continued co-operation.
