Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Grand Canal Greenway that Huband Aqueduct, Ballycowan, Co. Offaly (northern bank), is closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic with immediate effect.
This closure is necessary for public safety following a structural failure where a section of the aqueduct wall has subsided into the canal. The route will remain closed until further notice to allow for inspections and repairs. Vessel navigation remains unrestricted.
