Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels intending to transit Ardnacrusha Lock that restricted opening arrangements will be in place while ESB undertakes core drilling works to the Lower Navigation Lock from 23 March to 24 April 2026.
During this period, the lock will need to be periodically isolated / closed to ensure the safety of personnel carrying out the works.
The lock will remain open for boat passage; however, ESB Ardnacrusha requests that, where possible, vessels arrange passage outside the hours of Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00, and weekend passage is preferred.
Arrangements for passage through Ardnacrusha Lock should be coordinated directly with the Lock Keeper at Ardnacrusha on 0879970131. Where possible, one week’s notice of intended passage during this period would be appreciated.
