Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels that Lock 25, Cappincur is scheduled to reopen on 24 March 2026.
This extended closure has facilitated emergency repair works, the final phase of which will address issues associated with the land tunnels.
To facilitate these works, the water level between Lock 24 and Lock 25 will be lowered for the duration of the repairs. Affected boaters are requested to contact their local Water Patroller for further information or assistance.
We appreciate that there have been a number of closures on the Grand Canal over the past few months; however, these works have enabled essential repairs to this historic infrastructure in advance of the approaching boating season.
