End of Winter Mooring Period 2025-2026

Marine Notice No.29 of 2026

As we look forward to the 2026 boating season, Waterways Ireland wishes to thank all masters of vessels for their cooperation during the winter months. To ensure Waterways Ireland managed harbours remain vibrant and accessible for everyone to enjoy this spring, we would like to remind masters that the winter mooring period concludes on 31 March 2026

From 1 April 2026, our standard mooring Bye-laws return to help provide fair access for all visitors:

  • Shannon Navigation (Bye-law 17). To keep our busy harbours moving, vessels are welcome to stay for up to 5 consecutive days (with a maximum of 7 days per month in any one harbour).
  • Lough Erne (Bye-law 19). Public moorings are available for stays of up to 48 hours. To refresh the stay, vessels should vacate the mooring for at least four hours before returning.

Finding the Right Home for Your Vessel. Waterways Ireland managed harbours are "short-stay", much like high-street parking, perfect for visiting local areas and exploring the navigation. For those seeking the convenience of a permanent longer-term berth, we encourage you to explore the facilities offered by the many private commercial marinas along the Shannon. They can provide dedicated long-term solutions tailored to your needs.

Waterways Ireland thanks our customers for their continued support.
