Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels of upcoming lock and bridge closures to facilitate staff safety training for Shannon Operations personnel.
1. South & Mid Shannon. Thursday, 12 March – Closed all day. The following will be closed to vessel traffic:
- Portumna Bridge
- Meelick Lock
- Athlone Lock
- Sarsfield Lock
- Poolboy Lock
2. North Shannon. Thursday, 19 March – Partial closure re-opens 16:30 to 18:30. The following locks and bridges will be closed to vessel traffic:
- Tarmonbarry Lock & Bridge
- Rooskey Lock & Bridge
- Albert Lock
- Clarendon Lock
- Clondra Lock
- Battlebridge Lock
- Drumleague Lock
- Drumshanbo Lock
These temporary closures are necessary to enable centralised training for operational staff, benefiting Waterways Ireland personnel and supporting the safety of all waterway users.
