Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that the slipway at Toome, Lower Bann, will be closed to public use from Thursday, 4 December 2025.
Interim structural support measures were undertaken in April 2025 to keep the slipway operational during the summer and autumn. The slipway is now considered to be in a condition requiring full closure until a new slipway and retaining wall can be constructed.
It is anticipated that works will commence on site in March 2026, with completion estimated for May 2026.
Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused. Public safety is paramount and necessitates this closure.
Boaters requiring slipway access during this period are advised to contact Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and Mid Ulster District Council regarding the use of their facilities at Newferry.
