Winter Mooring Period 2025–2026

Marine Notice No. 114 of 2025 Shannon Navigation & Shannon-Erne Waterway

The Winter Mooring period for public harbours on the Shannon Navigation & Shannon–Erne Waterway runs from 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026. Boaters wishing to apply are kindly asked to note:

  • Applications and payments must be made online at the Waterways Ireland website here: https://www.waterwaysireland.org/boat-owners/winter-mooring
  • This portal opens 1 October 2025
  • The winter mooring fee of €63.50 must be paid in full by 1 November 2025.
  • Where possible, applicants will be allocated their preferred location. If this is not possible, an appropriate alternative will be offered.
  • Bye-law 17 (5 Day Rule) remains in force for masters who do not avail of winter mooring, or for those not approved due to repeated breaches of the Bye-law during 2025.
  • Electricity and water supply at public moorings will be disconnected from November to March and reinstated before the start of the 2026 boating season.
  • Vessels are moored at the owner’s risk. Owners are encouraged to check their vessels periodically throughout the winter period.
  • Our waterways remain active year-round; therefore, masters of vessels will be guided to allow space for visiting craft in specific locations.

Waterways Ireland greatly appreciates the cooperation of all masters and thanks our boating community for their continued support during the winter months. We look forward to welcoming you back on the waterways in Spring 2026.
