Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that routine vegetation trimming and removal works will commence on the Shannon-Erne Waterway from Monday, 14 September 2026.
Works will take place along the banks of the waterway from Lock 2, Ballyconnell, to Upper Lough Erne in order to maintain a safe navigation corridor.
The works will involve personnel and plant operating from floating pontoons. The navigation corridor will be restricted locally, yet will remain passable.
Masters are requested to proceed with caution, reduce speed as appropriate, and comply with any instructions issued by Waterways Ireland personnel in the vicinity of the works.
Waterways Ireland thanks all waterway users for their cooperation while these maintenance works are undertaken.
