Waterways Ireland advises all masters of vessels and waterway users that, due to substantial flood protection works being undertaken by Limerick City and County Council, the Waterways Ireland jetty at George’s Quay, Limerick, will be closed for the 2026 boating season.

The jetty will remain closed for the duration of the works and is not expected to re-open until March 2027.

Navigation on the River Shannon will remain open.  Masters of vessels are advised to exercise caution when passing the flood protection works being carried out on the adjacent quay wall. Please observe all on-site signage and to comply with any instructions issued by safety boats operating in the area.

Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thanks all waterway users for their understanding and cooperation during these essential flood protection works.
