Final Ulster Canal Restoration Plan – Upper Lough Erne to Clones
Waterways Ireland plans to restore navigation on the Ulster Canal between Upper Lough Erne and Clones, in Counties Cavan, Fermanagh and Monaghan. In compliance with:
- Article 5 (2) (3) of the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 (S.R. 280/2004) and
- Article 9 (1) of the European Communities (Environmental Assessment of Certain Plans and Programmes) Regulations 2004 (S.I 435 of 2004)
a Strategic Environmental Assessment and Appropriate Assessment of the Draft Ulster Canal Restoration Plan – Upper Lough Erne to Clones were carried out on behalf of the competent authority. An Environmental Report was also prepared which assessed, at a strategic level, the likely significant environmental impacts of implementing the draft Ulster Canal Restoration Plan – Upper Lough Erne to Clones.
Outcome and Downloads
Based on information and suggestions received in written submissions and observations through the consultation process, the Draft Ulster Canal Restoration Plan – Upper Lough Erne to Clones was finalised as was the SEA Statement.
