Lough Erne Classic Yacht Race


Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users
that the Lough Erne Classic Yacht Association Race will take place from 26 – 30 August 2010 (5 days) from Crom Estate.

Masters of vessels are advised that there will be an increased concentration of sailing vessels in this area and are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this stretch of the navigation and to heed any advice or instructions issued by race officials.

Upper Lough Erne

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users
that Aquatic weed is now present in quantities not encountered since 2004.

Masters of vessels are advised to navigate with caution in the main and secondary channels on the Upper Lough Erne and to keep a sharp look-out and proceed at slow speed when in this area of the navigation.

MARINE NOTICE 82/2010

Lower Lough Erne Devenish Island - Diving Operation


The Centre for Maritime Archaeology (CMA), University of Ulster, will conduct  an underwater geophysical survey around Devenish Island on Thursday 26th August 2010 and from Tuesday 31st August until Friday 3rd September 2010. Further diving will take place mainly in the area between Tully Point and Devenish.

Diving operations will be conducted from a highly-visible orange Pioneer boat and the ‘Diver Down flag’,  (white/blue), as shown,  will be flown.

 


Masters are requested to give the dive boat a wide berth and to proceed at slow speed and due caution when in the vicinity of the diving operation.

LOW WATER LEVELS - CAUTIONARY WARNING


Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of all navigations that water levels have fallen in recent weeks.

Masters of vessels, particularly those with deep drafts, are advised to proceed with due caution and prudence when navigating the waterways.

UPPER LOUGH

AIDS TO NAVIGATION

Masters of vessels are reminded to take care when navigating on Upper Lough Erne due to the detrimental effect that the winter conditions had on the navigation marks. Previous Marine Notice 5/2010 refers.

Remedial work is continuing on the Upper Lough by Waterways Ireland staff and a marine notice will issue on completion.

Aids to Navigation

Masters of vessels should note that the recent extreme weather conditions which resulted in both flooding and icing, has had a detrimental affect on the Lough Erne marker posts throughout the system, therefore extreme care should be taken when navigating.
