Minister Ó Cuiv Launches New Lakeland & Inland Waterways Regional Guides at Allianz Boat Show

The Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Éamon Ó Cuiv, T.D., launched the Lakeland & Inland Waterways Regional Guides at the Waterways Ireland stand at the Allianz Boat Show in Dublin.

The four Regional Guides to Lough Erne, Lough Allen & Lough Key, Lough Ree & Mid-Shannon and Lough Derg were produced by Waterways Ireland in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, Shannon Development and Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism as part of the Lakelands & Inland Waterways Initiative.

The free of charge Regional Guides detail the visitor services within 30km of the Erne, Ulster Canal to Clones, Shannon-Erne Waterway and Shannon and gives essential contact details. The reverse of the guide is a detailed map to the region.

Other Lakelands & Inland Waterways brochures include the Main Guide and a Guide to Cruising. A popular DVD has also be developed and used to great effect at the many shows and events attended by the partners.

Launched in 2007, the Lakelands & Inland Waterways /initiative is a strategic tool used by the various partners including Tourism Ireland to promote and develop Ireland's Lakelands both nationally and internationally.
