1. The Shannon-Erne waterway is 63km in length.

4. If the boat is too close to the moving lock gates or if they are not clear of the sill a siren will sound. If the siren sounds,hold in the emergency stop button and move the boat clear of the gates and sills.

7. The locks on the Shannon-Erne waterway are electrohydralic and operate using a smart card. The locks located on the Barrow Navigation and the Grand & Royal Canal are operated by a lock keeper who physically pulls or pushes the lock gates to open and close them.
8. When the water is level on both sides of the lock it is safe to open the lock gates and release the boat.
