Waterways Ireland Invests in the Lower Bann

Waterways Ireland are happy to confirm the arrival of 36 metres of floating jetties on-site at Portglenone Wood on the East shore of the Lower Bann River. The floating jetties form part of a £137,000 programme of work underway at the site since mid October 2008. The jetties will be installed in the coming weeks and will add to the boaters experience of the Lower Bann in 2009.

The upgrade of facilities at Portglenone Wood forms part of a programme to upgrade facilities all along the Lower Bann. The project designed and commissioned by Waterways Ireland will be completed by Christmas 2008. The works have been contracted to Ward Civil Engineering Ltd of Magherafelt. Waterways Ireland would like to thank the Forest Service for their assistance with this project.
