Journalist visits Ireland's Lakelands & Inland Waterways

Waterways Ireland is hosting a UK-based journalist on a familiarisation trip on Lough Erne, the Shannon-Erne Waterway and the Shannon Navigation on a one week boat trip which started on the 4th April.

Waterways Ireland is working in partnership with Carrick Craft and Emerald Star who have provided the boats for the trip.

Writing for the UK Canals and Rivers Magazine, Phil Pickens will be writing an entire Special Issue on Irelands Lakelands and Inland Waterways which will be printed later in the year. Canals and Rivers Magazine is published monthly with over 10,000 waterway enthusiast subscribers and has a large web based audience <www.canalsandrivers.co.uk>.

Travelling North to South on his journey, the journalist will be stopping in Enniskillen, Belturbet and Carrick-on-Shannon as well as many of the smaller towns and villages along the route.

Accompanying him on part of his trip, a spokesperson for Waterways Ireland commented 'this is an ideal opportunity to illustrate to this special interest market that Ireland's Lakeland and Inland Waterways are a wonderful holiday experience for families and are very accessible now from the UK.'
