Waterways Ireland Continues to Invests in the Lower Bann

Portglenone Wood

Waterways Ireland are happy to confirm the completion of works at Portglenone Wood on the east shore of the Lower Bann River.

36 metres of floating jetties have been installed as part of a £146,000 programme of work. This includes a 6m canoe launching section.

The provision of these jetties now provides improved access to the 'ancient woodland' of Portglenone Forest, and will add to the boaters experience of the Lower Bann in 2009 and into the future.

The upgrade of facilities at Portglenone Wood forms part of a programme to upgrade facilities all along the Lower Bann. The project was designed and commissioned by Waterways Ireland. The works were contracted to Ward Contracts of Magherafelt. Waterways Ireland would like to thank the Forest Service for their co-operation with this project.
