OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE "WHAT'S ON 2005" GUIDE
Mr Éamon Ó Cuív, T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, launched the "What's On Guide 2005" developed by Waterways Ireland, on Friday 20th May in Enniskillen.
The "What's On 2005" Guide is a 44 page booklet containing date, venue and contact details for Events taking place this year along a 6 mile corridor either side of the 7 waterways within the remit of Waterways Ireland. The Events are as diverse as the waterways they take place on or near, and include: Air Shows; Rowing Regattas; Boat Rallies; Sailing, Rowing and Kayaking Competitions; Exhibitions; Garden Walks; Arts, Community and Music Festivals; Environmental Summer Schools and lots more beside. The "What's On 2005" Guide is of interest to anyone who is visiting the inland waterways, owns a boat or is considering coming to the waterways on holiday.
The Minister praised Waterways Ireland on producing such a useful and informative guide, which, he said, "would be of great benefit to the local communities and the many visitors to the waterways".
The waterways under the remit of Waterways Ireland are the Lower Bann Navigation, the Erne System, the Shannon-Erne Waterway, the Shannon Navigation, the Barrow Navigation, the Grand Canal and the Royal Canal.
Produced annually by Waterways Ireland, the "What's On" Guide is distributed free of charge to both the local and national markets.
