Hopefully it's Catching - The Waterways Ireland Erne International Pike Fishing Classic

The 2nd Waterways Ireland Erne International Pike Fishing Classic takes place from Friday 19th October to Sunday 21st October on the River Erne around Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.

The three-day event consists of a one-day shore fishing competition on Friday 19th October when anglers will be positioned at the fishing stands around Enniskillen. On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st, the action moves to the water with a boat fishing event taking place from Portora Gates to Carrybridge and Innishmore Viaduct.

A prize fund of £14,000 is on offer with prizes for each of the days of the competition and an overall prize for the two-day boat competition. Between 300 and 500 anglers are expected to take part from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and mainland Europe.

The 2006 shore based event was won by local angler Barry Dickson with a pike of 16lb 4oz and the heaviest fish over the 2 day boat competition was won by Co. Longford angler Dave Roache with an impressive fish of 22lb 3oz.
