Christie Park & Somerset

Explore multiple areas of outstanding beauty in one glorious walk along the River Bann with this route, which takes in Christie Park, Somerset Forest, The Cutts area and views of the historic Mountsandel Fort. Or, enjoy this short route by bike. 

Start at the parking area at Christie Park, then head along the path by the river, directing away from the old bridge near the town centre and towards the new bridge. Cross under the bridge and veer left onto a slender, surfaced path that runs alongside the river. This will lead you all the way to the car park of Somerset Riverside Park, across from Mountsandel Fort. Enjoy scenic views of the Bann as you walk, learn local information via the panels along the route, and continue your journey beyond the carpark and into Somerset Forest to enjoy the many diverse trails within.
