Cycling on the Shannon-Erne Waterway
The Shannon-Erne Waterway is a central feature in one of the better known long distance cycle routes on the island; the Kingfisher Cycle Trail.
It is also home to some of Ireland's more tranquil (short) routes.
The Kingfisher Trail
is over 200 miles long, it encompasses parts of the Shannon Navigation, Shannon-Erne waterway and the Erne System. Based mainly on small country roads the route meanders around the waterways taking in the rural villages and small towns that populate the gently rolling countryside.
