Canoeing on the Shannon-Erne Waterway
The Shannon-Erne Waterway is an ideal waterway for those new to paddling. New to the Shannon-Erne Waterway in 2016 was the 70km Shannon-Erne Blueway, 70km of easy to use paddling journeys.
Blueways are a network of multi-activity recreational trails, based on or alongside idyllic lakes, canals, rivers and coastal shores in Ireland. They provide scenic routes into the heart of rural Ireland by canoe, bike or on foot. Relax on a gentle guided canoe trip; have fun trying out Stand Up Paddle boards; hire electric bikes as you experience the beautiful Blueways on two wheels or simply on foot.
The newly developed Shannon-Erne Blueway showcases a selection of paddling trails between Leitrim Village and Belturbet, connecting with the Erne system at Crom Estate. These on-water journeys are complemented by a range of walking trails at various locations, together with beautiful cycling routes around the town of Ballinamore.
