Power Sports on the Lower Bann

Power Sports on the Lower Bann Navigation

The Lower Bann is a powered watersports HOTSPOT, with sections of the river zoned for all kinds of power sports including wakeboarding and waterskiing.

The Lower Bann is also home to a particular variant of waterskiing - barefoot waterskiing which is hugely popular and forms part of the hugely enjoyable Waterways Ireland Riverfestwhich has taken place on the Lower Bann for a number of years.

Centres providing training and taking skilled proponents of water-skiing and wakeboarding operate in a couple of locations along the river, making it one of the most accessible sports along the entire navigation.

While no Navigation Bye-laws are in place on the Lower Bann a voluntary code of conduct developed by the stakeholders is in operation. Waterway users are advised to use the zoned areas for the sports intended and move through the 'no wake zones' causing as little disturbance as possible. More information on the zones is available on the navigation page.
