Rowing on the Erne System
Rowing is a lifelong sport that many begin in school and enjoy the huge health and social benefits that rowing and rowing clubs can provide. On the Erne System, rowing has a growing participation.
The sport tends is focused around Enniskillen and Belturbet. Rowers are a common site as the teams train from Portora, past the Round O, Enniskillen Castle, the Ardhowen Theatre and out to the Culkey Straight. Competitively the clubs attend events in Ireland and some travel as far as England. Aimed mainly at school goers, the club has both girls and boys teams competing extensively. In Belturbet, training and events for local young people run midweek throughout the summer.
