Boating on the Barrow Navigation

The Barrow Navigation is a wonderful river to explore by boat with the lateral canals providing a change of pace and a chat with the lock-keeper!

Barge Hire  (No License required)

The freedom of making your own travel decisions, flexibly deciding to stay or wander a little further of the beaten track, makes boating holidays a marvelous experience. Never say 'once in a lifetime' because once you've tried it, you'll want to come back again and again.

Self-drive barge range in size from 2 - 6 persons and can be hired from Barrowline Cruisers at Vicarstown and Jennifer's Travels, Monasterevin.

Most companies require the barge to be returned to the base from which it was hired. No one way trips are available. Training is provided at the outset and lifejackets are provided by all companies. Support is also provided enroute should you run into difficulties.

Boat Trips

If you want to experience the pleasure of the canal's tranquil waters and don't have the confidence to skipper your own boat then why not try out a trip on a passenger boat such as Athy Boat Tours and Boat Trips Ireland.

Use the See and Do to find details of the providers.
