Located at the foot of the Curlew Mountains in County Roscommon, and flanked by Lough Key and Lough Gara, Boyle is a town of outstanding natural beauty. Well-served by public transport, with a train station and bus routes, there’s plenty of history, culture and active adventures on offer.
Hike the plentiful trails into Boyle’s gorgeous countryside, or visit Lough Key Forest & Activity park, where you can zipline, brave obstacle courses and stroll through woodland walking trails. Alternatively, head to the banks of the River Shannon or the nearby Loughs to swim, waterski, kayak or canoe.
Inside the town, you’ll find historic attractions including Boyle Abbey, a 12th century monastery around which the town developed, alongside cafes, galleries, restaurants, pubs, B&Bs and a playground on the banks of the River Shannon.
