Waterways Ireland advises boaters on the Royal and Grand Canals that there will be one further lift of Newcomen Bridge in 2026, scheduled for Saturday 10 October, before further engineering works on the bridge lifting mechanism.
Boaters wishing to avail of this lift should notify the Waterways Ireland Eastern Metro Regional Office of their boat details by 12:00 hrs Monday 5 October 2026, to allow the necessary arrangements to be put in place.

Normal arrangements for boat passage through Dublin will apply. Boaters should be prepared to make their passage through the city locks and Sea Locks on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October.
