Family Splah & Dash Launch

Waterways Ireland & Triathlon Ireland are bringing an exciting new format of swim-run sport for adults and kids to locations around the country this summer. The Waterways Ireland Splash and Dash Series will see kids and adults participate together on the same team in an exciting non-competitive event. The aim is to break down the barriers of participation and allow adults be positive sporting role models for their kids.

Three events will take place as part of the Waterways Ireland Splash and Dash Series in 2019 on River Barrow, Athy, July 14th, in Spencer Dock, Dublin, July 28th and on the Erne, Enniskillen, August 11th.

The events, which are organised by Triathlon Ireland and local triathlon clubs Athy TC, Activ Multisport and Cuilcagh TC; are supported by Waterways Ireland and will help highlight Ireland's waterways as places for family activities such as walking, cycling and running.

The format for the race sees adults and kids participate on the same team in a swim-run event. The kids start off with a circa 200m swim followed by an 800m run. They then tag their adult team mate who will swim 500m before running 1.5km. The adult is then joined by kids before they both cross the finish line together.

The events are non-competitive and adults and kids of all ages can participate. Best of all, entry is free and open right now for the Athy Family Splash and Dash Entries for the Dublin and Enniskillen events will be opened shortly through the Triathlon Ireland website.

Waterways Ireland and Triathlon Ireland have a long and successful history of partnership with dozens of great Triathlon events taking place on Waterways managed locations each year.
