The Adventure Project find a new home on the Royal Canal
Waterways Ireland are delighted to confirm they have selected The Adventure Project for a licence agreement at the Royal Canal Lock 1 Cottage. The building in question is an old lock keepers cottage in North Strand, owned by Waterways Ireland, that has been out of use for a number of years now. (You can read more about its history by clicking here). This project aims to give the cottage a new lease of life and bring much needed life and animation to the heart of the north east inner city in advance of the linear park and greenway development through that area.
The Adventure Project are a Dublin based non profit organisation running adventure therapy programs for addiction services, young people in care, crime diversion projects & the prison service. They have huge experience in the area of Adventure Sport and Social Engagement and will now begin work with Waterways Ireland on a new Canal Adventure Program.
The Adventure Project have also been shortlisted as finalists in a €10,000 LEO grant under the ICE social enterprise scheme to refurbish the cottage, to be awarded in early August. They have also launched a public appeal on their facebook page for volunteers to help with rennovations. If you have a skill that you think may be useful please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
