Media and Film Access Application Guidelines

Media Visits

Waterways Ireland organises and hosts media trips as well as supporting trips organised by Tourism Ireland, the international tourism marketing organisation for Ireland and Northern Ireland. Please contact the Waterways Ireland Press Office on +353 (0)71 9650560 or via email at press office to discuss your enquiry or provide initial details of your request.

Filming

There are five simple steps to follow to get permission to film on Ireland's Inland Waterways

1.Pre-application advice

Waterways Ireland Press Office works in partnership with other divisions regarding all filming/photography enquiries and is happy to answer any initial questions. Please contact the Waterways Ireland Press Office on +353 (0)71 9650560 or via email at press office to discuss your enquiry or provide initial details of your request.

2. Formal Written Application with Public Liability Insurance

All filmmakers/photographers are asked to complete a detailed Filming Approval Application Form supplied by Waterways Ireland Press Office. The completed form will be submitted for consideration by Waterways Ireland with proof of Public Liability Insurance and Risk Assessment requested.

3.Meeting/site meeting, complete additional documentation and agree fee (if appropriate)

For large-scale or more complex productions a  site meeting will be required to discuss the details and logistics of the request. Waterways Ireland Press Office  will advise on this requirement and will coordinate the appropriate meetings. In these instances, a Method Statement will be requested in addition to the standard documentation requirements outlined above. All requests are considered on a case by case basis and in relation to health & safety issues and any other planned activity within the same building or area.

Waterways Ireland Press Office will advise as early as possible of any potential fees to be incurred in relation to the filming request. If fees are to be incurred the production must acknowledge in writing that they wish to continue with the proposed filming and agree to pay the fees as requested. Details of how and when payment is to be made will be confirmed; a Purchase Order will usually be requested prior to filming.

4.Sign legally binding indemnification and arrange payment (if appropriate)

If permission is given an indemnification will be issued for signature and witnessing. It must be returned to WI for the affixing of the corporate seal. A copy of the approved document will be issued. Payment (were applicable) can be made by cheque or bank transfer

5.De-brief

So that we may continually improve our service, Waterways Ireland  welcomes the opportunity to meet or talk with productions once filming is complete in order to gain feedback of the experience on the waterway.
