Coleraine - Family Fun

When it comes to family fun, the Lower Bann is guaranteed to keep everyone happy from adventure-seeking teenagers to enthusiastic toddlers!

With great walking routes that bring you into the heart of nature; clean, calm waters that are ideal for paddle boarding and kayaking; and fun play centres that serve up hours of giddy entertainment, the Lower Bann is the perfect place for a family holiday with a difference.

See the Lower Bann from a different perspective by taking to the water! There are some great family-friendly watersports available all along the river, from a fast-paced day out on a river or lough cruise with Abhainn Cruises to quiet kayaking trips that allow you to get close to nature. During the summer, don’t miss the big on-the-water attraction just outside Coleraine – The Edge Watersports at The Crannagh Activity Centre. A huge inflatable waterpark springs up here every summer from May to September and is a brilliant family day out, no matter what the weather.

Fabulous forests, fun canal-side strolls and wonderfully wild woods – when it comes to enjoyable walks, the Lower Bann delivers with a great selection of short routes that suit all the family. Younger kids will love frolicking along the lovely trails that wind through Portglenone Forest, while scampering over the Anglo-Norman fort in Mountsandel Wood serves up a big dose of fun along with great views. And with walks in Kilrea Forest, Toome Canal and Somerset Riverside Park in Coleraine, there are countless opportunities to enjoy the natural wonders of this part of the world.
