Enfield

Enfield, along the main Dublin to Sligo rail line, offers various accommodation options, making it a charming stopover for your Royal Canal Adventure. Known as An Bóthar Buí (the yellow road) in Irish, the town got its name from traditional cattle markets, which left the main street covered in yellow hay. A designated main access point to the Royal Canal Greenway, Enfield Harbour has free parking and serviced public toilets, a picnic area and the Enfield Fairy Trail, which is perfect for visiting with young children.

The town centre is only 450 metres from the Royal Canal, offering easy access to cafes, restaurants and supermarkets. Take a five minute cycle ride to the historical Famine Pot in Enfield Town Centre, or a 1 hour bike ride to Trim Castle before continuing down the Royal Canal Greenway. For those wishing to stay a little longer, there are multiple golf clubs and resorts in the area, alongside affordable or high-end accommodation.
