Grand Canal & Greenway Closure at L'Estrange Bridge

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels and Greenway users that navigation on the Grand Canal and access to L'Estrange Bridge will be closed from 18:00 on Saturday, 22 March, to 08:00 on Sunday, 23 March 2025. During this time, vessels will not be permitted to pass under the bridge, and Greenway users will not have access to the bridge.

This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of an overbridging structure for the transport of an abnormal load destined for Shannonbridge Power Station. For the duration of the installation, operation, and deconstruction of the overbridging, the bridge will be designated as a construction site.

Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of all users. Further updates will be provided as necessary.
