MARINE NOTICE No 129 of 2024 Updated

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that a Status Red wind warning has been issued by Met Eireann for Leitrim, Galway, Clare, Donegal, Sligo, Mayo from 2200hrs on Friday 6th December until 0300hrs on Saturday 7th December 2024.

A Status Orange Wind Warning has been issued by Met Eireann for all counties from 2000hrs on Friday 6th December to 1000 hrs on Saturday 7th December 2024.

Met Eireann wind weather warning states that impacts include:
•    Fallen trees
•    Damage to power lines
•    Very difficult travelling conditions
•    Damage to temporary structures
•    Wave overtopping
The UK Met Office has issued a Status Amber wind warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone & Derry from 0100hrs to 2100hrs on Saturday 7th December 2024. The warning states that there will be “Potentially damaging winds associated with Storm Darragh”.

Masters of vessels are advised to not undertake unnecessary journeys and to check mooring lines regularly throughout this period. Waterways users are advised that jetties and quay walls may be slippery. Additional precautions should be taken when operating on or near water during Storm Darragh.
