EIS Non Technical Summary
This Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) accompanies the planning application, planning drawings and planning documentation for the Waterways Ireland proposal to restore navigation on the Ulster Canal from Upper Lough Erne to Clones. This EIS has been carried out to assess the potential impacts of the construction and operation of the navigation, based on Waterways Ireland design information, the likely construction materials, methods and timescales, and the current and proposed navigation management practices of Waterways Ireland. This EIS has been compiled to meet the requirements of the Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 1999 & 2008 in Northern Ireland and the Planning and Development Act 2000, the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 - 2006 and the European Communities (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 1989 - 2006, in Ireland.
