LOW WATER LEVELS - CAUTIONARY WARNING


Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of all navigations that water levels have fallen in recent weeks.

Masters of vessels, particularly those with deep drafts, are advised to proceed with due caution and prudence when navigating the waterways.

Toomebridge

Entrance to Lower Bann Navigation

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels and users of the waterway that the canal entrance to the navigation from Lough Neagh, at Toomebridge, is heavily silted consequently there is a least depth of approximately 3ft / 0.9m in the navigable channel.

Mariners are advised to navigate with due caution.

Dredging of the channel will take place shortly when weather conditions have improved.

LOWER BANN NAVIGATION

Masters and owners on the Lower Bann are advised of Waterways Ireland change to Lock Opening Hours

Following a period of review of usage of the locks on the Lower Bann Navigation, Waterways Ireland intends to change the opening hours of the locks to better reflect user demand.
The new regime will be implemented from Thursday 4th June 2009 with four periods being established to reflect seasonal use. The extended opening hours during the summer period will remain unchanged however the timings will move forward slightly.

The four opening periods will be as follows:
