ROYAL CANAL FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK LAUNCHED

Waterways Ireland is delighted to announce that agreement has been reached regarding the roll out of a fibre optic network along the Royal Canal in Co. Kildare. Inland Fibre Telecom Ltd. (IFTL), a telecommunications company involved in the installation of infrastructure and the lease of fibre to telecoms operators and businesses, has agreed with Waterways Ireland to install telecoms infrastructure in the Canal Towpaths as a cost effective and fast track method of rolling out its network.

IFTL has completed construction of the first phase of the Canal installation from the Greater Dublin area to the towns of Maynooth and Kilcock. The network also services the towns of Clane, Sallins and Naas.
